Aside from producing music and performing Live PA  I like to mod existing synths and construct new ones from scratch. I will do repairs and mods as long as they are not too complicated if time permits.

Midibox SIDbox Synth

This synth was built form scratch with help from the Midibox forum and is based on the sound chip from the Commodore 64. I don't use this synth a whole lot probably due to lack of controls but it has stereo out (2 SID chips). Aside from the the stereo SID I have a mono SID on the build and plan to add some filter controls to it... This synth was a bit difficult to build mostly just the programming as I'm not much of a programmer but the folks on the midibox forum are more than willing to assist in helping you as long as you research your question first.

 2 x 40 LCD Display (non backlit)

This is the CORE pcb from Smash TV

   This is the SID pcb

This is the DOUT pcb. This for your controls.

Control board fab'd from perf board.

Front panel mock up. Square button holes were hard to do basically drilled a round hole and filed square. All those parts I found at he surplus store.

The case now stuffed. The top left is the power supply and switch. This provided 9v and 12 volts to power the 2 boards using the boat anchor power supply from the Commodore 64.

Underside of the control panel. Her you will find the lcd, button board, encoder board, DOUT board, and the menu buttons. The wiring is messy but I tried to keep it neat as possible.

Midi IN/OUT, L / R audio out, 10 pin connector is for memory.

ALL SYSTEMS GO!!! Wished I held out for a backlit lcd and one of the led's on the buttons is burnt out but that is now fixed.

BOSS DR-110

Grabbed this drum machine off of Craigslist for $70 fully knowing that this box can be heavily modded. Throughout my years I have come across a few of these but never bothered to buy one. This is the current rendition of it but have been thinking of gutting it and housing it in a new case and adding individual outs for the voices and mutes. Currently using this for our Live PA gig as syncratic used in tandem with the following gear Acidlab M1AM1, Juno-60, SH-101, Doepfer DARKENERGY, Future Retro XS with Ableton as a midi sequencer.

All wired up DIN sync added later

DB 25 connector there are a few spare pins for future mods

Pots for the various voices labelled see below for voice mods.

Breakout box complete. Extra hole for future DIN sync mod.

This mod was not too hard. It took a bit of time to make the breakout box and fab the hole for the DB25 connector on the DR-110. Soldering the ribbon cable to the DR-110 was tricky as some of the traces on the pcb were lifting up. Mods done kick decay (self oscillate), clap pitch & decay, clap pitch & decay, cymbal pitch & decay, hi hat pitch and decay. Currently going to add kick tune once I find the mod.

DR-110 Samples (Mod box)

Machinedrum SPS-1

This is my first hardware sequencer and since I recived this back in May 2010 I barelt use Ableton anymore as this drum machine was given me a new way of producing and just more fun to use. One thing that I did not like was all the red led's which made it hard to differentiate the steps of the sequencer. Being the creative guy that I am i decided to open it up and add green led's on steps 1, 5, 9, 13 so it would be easy to observe in the dark when performing. This mod was fairly easy if you are competent with a soldering iron.

Led's above the encoder are green respectively.

Studio

At the moment I have taken on the task of refinishing my basement to relocate my studio from the second floor. Here I will chronicle the build and plan on doing all the work except drywall taping and sanding. Acoustic treatment will be applying insulation and soundproof drywall on the wall facing neighbour.

Past studio no longer have TR-707, MS-2000

Current studio. Modded JX-3P able to use PG200 while sync'd to midi. The jerker desk has been mod'd as well by tiliting the shelves don't know why I di not do this ages ago.

The framed wall to the left has been relocated flush to the stairs.
